Metric are one of my favourite bands- Emily Haines is a brilliant lyricist, mixing melancholy with sexuality on every song.

This song is so beautiful. Most people wouldn't listen to it as it's too DIY for mainstream. It's really rare though; you can hear naivety, anxiety and sadness all at once in his voice. He is very child like.

Genius production. The chord progressions kind of make my guts churn too which is always a bonus.

I'm interested in the rough, simple production. Her vocals have a frenetic feel to them and the lyrics are messy and indulgent- she provokes the feeling of being totally out of control.

Even if this isn't your style of music, you can't deny the unique quality that is Brody Dalle's voice. It's so coarse and broken. I think it's beautiful. She captures desolation.

Timeless, emotive and refined, I will never tire of it. I think few can capture the sensitivity and simplicity of human emotion that Dolly has.

This is one of my favourite Gaga songs. For me, it symbolises everything that pop music should be.

She broke a lot of boundaries as a female artist; in production, subject matter and style. Unique!
